Surface : 1000 ha. Grape variety : gros manseng , courbu, petit manseng Production : 40 000 hl. The soil The topography of the Monein slopes optimizes the sun shine effects and a good maturation of the grapes.
Our grapes grow on the south and west side of the slopes of Pyrenean Piedmont on argil-muddy grounds. These grounds own all the poverty required and an excellent hydrous regulation which help for the deep rooting of the grapes. Thus, due to this extreme condition, the vintage offers a limited production and a strong concentration of the grape-berry giving a typical originality to all the range of our wines. We respect both our soil and nature thanks to a reasoned culture, an organic fertilization, and a meticulous work in our vineyard, in the respect of an ancestral knowledge. The climate The mountain rigor, the softness of the ocean and a good rain repartition allow a harmonious wine development. These characteristics also protect our grape variety from the harmful effect of the spring frozen.
The favorable after season, where are mixed sunny days, cold, frozen and wet nights, preserves the maturation of the autumn moods. Thanks to a Foen effect, hot draught coming from Spain, it offers a typical over-ripening of the grapes of our appellation, called passerillage in French. In November, in particular, the contrast between the coldness of the nights and the softness of the days fade more the grapes while increasing their concentration.
