Beaujolais is one of our most popular wines and bears no resemblance to any
of the others. As nowhere else, the Gamay grape shows at its very
best here and roots astonishingly well in the Beajolais granite
soil. Showing off its potential admirably, it gives lightness
and fruit in wonderfully violet coloured wines.

A 130 year old estate in the heart of Burgundy,
the Mommessin estate.
At the heart of the winegrowing region of Burgundy, near Macon, is a beautiful building which once belonged to Cluny Abbey, St Peter's Barn. It was there that in 1865, Jean-Marie Mommessin founded the estate which almost 130 years later still bears his name. Rooted in the land, from generation to generation, competition after competition, from medal to medal, the Mommessin family name is carved deep in the history of Burgundy winemaking. Over the years, successive generations of Mommessins have managed to enlarge their holdings of vineyards which , starting in Burgundy, now stretch through the Maconnais with both red Macon and White Macon Villages and Pouilly-Fuissé via Moulin _ Vent in the Beaujolais to the Côtes du Rhône. This balanced production, nowadays exported to more than 70 countries is a good model of the vitality of the Mommessin estate. Grand cru of world renown, and the only Burgundy Clos never to have been divided since it was first planted in 1142, the prestigious Clos de Tart is the flagship of Mommessin burgundies and an illustration of the excellence of the Pinot Noir. Under the impetus of Didier Mommessin, the Mommessin estate maintains the family tradition in cultivating Burgundian Art, and does so with the kind of passion which gives birth to great works of art.
