Heirs to a rich wine-making tradition handed down from
their father and grandfather,
Paul, Pierre and Laurent Bunan continue
to preserve and uphold the authenticity and integrity of their vineyards.
In 1961 a page of French history was turned which forced Paul and Pierre
to abandon their family holdings and their native soil. Steeped in wine-growing
lore, these sons of the warm Mediterranean immediately fell in love with
an estate in
Bandol, a noble and widely respected wine growing
region in the south of France.
The Moulin des Costes, an old and
typicaly Provencal domain planted with vines, evergreens, olives, apricot
and almond trees, was acquired and put under vine. Subsequently they purchased
both the
Château and the Mas de la Rouvière. And, as time went
by, they took over the running of the
Domaine de Bélouvé.
Collectively known as
Domaines Bunan, these properties reflect
their owners vitality, sincerity, simplicity and overall dedication to
their art.
Moulin des Costes
A definitive
Bandol in the "grande tradition". A wine of impeccable
pedigree. Subtly blended for character. An unchanging, recognized value.
Mas de la Rouvière
The same soil as the Château la Rouvière but a different selection
of vinestocks blended for subtility of character. Typical Provencal
wines with character and finesse.
Château la Rouvière
The best possible soil, favorable exposure, old vinestocks...
The jewel in the crown of the Bandol estates !
Built in the 19th century by an industrialist from the north of France,
the Chateau overlooks a steeply terraced south-facing hillside. The
view extends to the Bec de l'Aigle (the Eagle's beak), the bay of La
Ciotat and the white limestone ridges framing the tiny fishing port
of Cassis.
Family-owned since 1969, this vineyard has a large number of very old
vinestocks, some dating back 50 years.
The narrow terraces, just wide enough for 1 to 3 rows of vines cover
the sunny southern slope right up to the Chateau.
